Summary: The end of the Mission is nigh…

He's brooding on the observation deck and I hesitate to approach. I have what should be happy news, but he won't see it as such.

"Enterprise--return to base--mission complete."

Already the rumors are flying. His being offered a promotion to the admiralty, and that Spock intends to retire to Vulcan while McCoy has threatened to quit.

He attempts a smile, but there is no life in it. He reads the padd, his face freezing in a pale imitation of happiness.

I rest my hand on his shoulder, offering what little comfort and understanding he will accept from me.

Summary: Does one fight or back away from a fantasy?

I heard from Uhura that you are requesting a transfer to anywhere but here.

My heart fractured just a little -- that you would confide in her instead of me -- that your unrequited fantasies of him still overpower the reality of our shared nights together.

He's offering to recommend you for OCS, a rarity for someone your age and rank. I know you're capable of it, I just didn't realize he had seen it too.

Take him up on the offer; let something good come from your service to him. I'll try to be happy for you. I really do care.

A/N: This can also be interpreted as solely K or solely Sc. Thanks Bandicca for that musing.

So another mission has gone to Hell in a hand basket. Too little information provided by those that should have known better and once again we had to wing it.

They expect me to be a miracle worker--to play God and keep you alive. How many times can you cheat death and he not get the wiser? How many times will he let me win?

The remainder of the mission can be counted in months now and I fret like any short-timer.

We're the only ship still relatively intact. Does Starfleet care? Or do they believe you're indestructible too?

Summary: A drunken Scotty speaks of the metallic wraith that took Kirk away from them all.

Aye, somethin' went verra wrong in her birthing. She came out possessed by th' soul o' a banshee. I didna' ken do anything to fix it. No way tae' make her whole now.

She waited for him tae' take her, knew he wanted her. But when he didn', when he hesitated, she took him. Took him cause she were angry that she were borne too late.

Now, th' best Scott is gone. Aye, I know he weren't borne o' th' land, but his blood was still pure--still true. Now, he's locked away--where only her insanity could take him.

Disclaimer: I own nothing but my fantasies

Summary: Some things aren't meant to be shared.

It is tense and I watch you both, drawing strength from the strong confidence or quiet competence each of you exude.

You speak in shorthand or not at all--yet totally in unison.

If it weren't for me being scared to death right now, I would fantasize myself between you. Your focus on work being transformed to a more intimate pursuit and spotlighted solely on me.

The attraction is there; I've certainly felt it from both of you, but something holds you back. Is it that I must choose between you? That in this one area you refuse to share?
